8 Life-Changing Lessons From Belle De Jour’s 2017 Women’s Summit

It isn’t the first time that Belle De Jour (BDJ) has pooled together inspiring women to share their life testimonies in order to empower other women. For the second year in a row, BDJ invested in another summit to encourage of all ages to continue being empowered and motivated. Last March 25 at SM Aura Samsung Hall, multiple notable speakers appeared on the Women’s Summit stage and poured their heart about their advocacies and struggles before reaching success. Hundreds of young women joined in and intently listened to each speaker’s story, understanding and empathizing each speaker. However, what was unique about each speaker is their life-experience very much vary, but in the end their message boils down to women empowerment. Here are 6 life-changing lessons picked up from the Women’s Summit:

1. The Power Of A Different Outlook Can Really Make A Difference

Ms. Abbygale Arenas, a former model and an image consultant shared her life-story from her humble beginnings as a model and as a contestant of Binibining Pilipinas. But it wasn’t always smooth-sailing for her, before winning the crown, Arenas recalls even doubting her looks and her capabilities to call herself a beauty queen. But because of a positive and go-getter perspective in life, she stands as a testimony that you have to help yourself, push yourself and motivate yourself before anyone else does. By breaking the status quo that a beauty queen has to look a specific way or a mother can only be accepted a specific age, she stands as an example of an empowered woman. Now 43, she’s a proud mom of a 2-year old. Proving that life will always throw surprises and challenges but a positive outlook can be life-changing.
