Have you ever stopped and asked yourself, “What would it be like to have the most powerful Filipinas in one room?”. Human nature made it possible to have powerful Filipina women come together to celebrate womanhood and the beauty of giving. Through the annual Pinay and Proud Summit, Human Nature in partnership with De La Salle College of St. Benilde, held the 2016 Pinay and Proud Summit, hailing new awardees to grace the event. Ten outstanding women from all walks of life, contributing generously and selflessly to different institutions or non-profit organizations were recognized during the event.

From Public School Teacher Sabrina Ongkiko, Carabao Holistic Farms Founders Hindy Weber and Melanie Teng-Co, Co-founder of Anthill Fabric Gallery Anya Lim, International Olympic Committee Member Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, GMA Network Journalist Kara David to Rags2Riches Co-Founder Reese Fernandez-Ruiz, the stage embraced different women who made undeniable impact in the society.

A few of the women shared and parted their stories to the audience, including teacher Sabs’ story of continuously giving to her students, even in moments of desperation and disparity. She pins the importance of never giving up on the youth of the country as “those who are hardest to love, need it the most”. Journalist Kara David took a different turn in her speech, veering away from her success but talking about women who have inspired her. She talks of a former private school principal the dove into public service by being a public school teacher. She highlights the true meaning of giving, an intangible but valuable aspect of life that should never be doubted.

The event didn’t forget to welcome former Pinay and Proud 2012 winners to the stage to take part in a panel discussion, these included Prima-Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, Bayani Brew Co-founder Xilca Alvarez and Issa Cuevas-Santos of Gawad Kalinga to name a few.

The event was a spur of not only generous giving, but it also delved into the value of being Pinay; a woman and a Filipino. With notable guests present, it was a firm established thought that the unique nature of a nurturing woman with a will-power as strong as a mother’s can change a society and uplift the best of the country. The event celebrated the simple act of kindness and giving and how it can address so many grave issues and important dilemmas we face today by acting on it.
