Pia Wurtzbach has always been very vocal of her close relationship with her sister, Sarah. But just in time for women’s international day, Pia surprised Sarah by thanking her in public during Downy’s Gala celebrating the #NeverFade Filipina women, held at Shangri-La Fort. During the event, Pia called up her sister to the stage and revealed to the audience the enduring support her sister had given her before, during and after her reign as Miss Universe 2015. Pia also explained that of the course of her journey to Miss Universe, it would be the first time that she would thank her sister in public. Sarah, who was clueless of the public tribute was left giddy and humbled by Pia’s gesture.
Pia reveals that she recalls endlessly telling her sister how much she wanted to be Miss Universe before trying out for the pageant, her sister then told her to start pursue her dreams rather than simply wish for it. Pia narrates, “Sarah, thank you so much for pushing me to joining [Miss Universe], I saw your reaction when I won, she was crying and she was going, ‘You did it! Your dream came true.’ and I felt like when my dream came true, her dream came true as well.” She went on sharing how much she admired Sarah, “Sarah is a very strong person, she empowered me to be the kind of woman that I want to be. She still applies that to her as well. She’s a great mom, I have a two year-old niece and she takes care of the family, she’s a great businesswoman and although she is younger than me, I still learn so much from her.”
Pia was also joined by fellow celebrities, Bianca Gonzales-Intal and KC Concepcion who paid their respective tributes to their Downy #NeverFade women as well.
